It’s with great sadness that I announce Marvins Revolt have decided to break up after almost ten years of being a band. They were the first band I worked with and some of my best friends. All I can say is Thanks to the band for being the nicest people over the years we worked together, always a smile and positive words through all their trials and tribulations. I look forward to hearing what music they all create in the future.
From their Myspace Blog:
“After almost a decade of making music together as Marvins Revolt, we have decided to put the band to sleep for an unknown period of time.
This decision was made collectively as everything else we’ve ever done. Even though we’ve enjoyed almost every minute of this great adventure, we’ve come to a place where the thrills and kicks that used to make it all worthwhile, aren’t strong enough any longer. We simply don’t have the passion for creating music together as Marvins Revolt any longer, the same goes for recording, touring and all the other stuff associated with the band. So the only right thing for us to do now is this.
We don’t know if we’ll ever join forces again musicwise as Marvins Revolt, but as for now, Marvins Revolt is no longer active.
We would like to thank everybody who has supported us throughout the years, everyone who has showed up to our shows, put on shows with us, had us sleeping, cooked for us, shared a stage with us etc. etc. And of course a very special thanks to our labels worldwide, HipHipHip in France, PlayRec in Denmark, Parabolica in Japan and the almighty Richter Collective in Ireland. Thanks for your incredible amounts of work invested in us, we’re forever in debt to you.
A change up for the first gig of 2010, we are proud to announce the first of a series of gigs aiming to introduce the best Bands from different Cities around the world. Our first in this series of Gigs/Club Nights is an introduction to Belfast. The line up was chosen by our very own Not Squares to showcase some of their favourite bands from the city and our neighbours from the North will be joined on the night by Nialler9 and Jim Carroll for DJ sets after the live music. We hope to see you there!
We are very pleased to announce Dublin based instrumental legends, The Redneck Manifesto, have joined the ever expanding Richter Collective roster. This is such exciting news for us to be working with the band on their upcoming album, entitled “Friendship”. The new album is pencilled in for a March 2010 release date. More information will come as we have it.
On 18th December, our good friends up north, Smalltown America Records, along with Trans present ASIWYFA in Ulster Hall.
ASIWYFA are a perfect example of how you really can achieve anything you want in Ireland with energy, enthusiasm and positivity in the face of whatever adversity you may think is in your way. Sometimes people like to complain about Ireland and how we don’t have X, Y or Z (South and North alike) like they do in England or some other far away place. ASIWYFA headlining one of the biggest venues on the island of Ireland is proof that thinking we are disadvantaged in some way is just rubbish. I hope some people can travel up from the south to offer some support to this huge gig; I feel so lucky to be playing at this event….
…and what an amazing year it has been for The Richter Collective. As a label we feel truly lucky to work with all the bands on our roster. Our Christmas party made me realise (as if I needed to realise) how lucky we are to work with such great people and I really would like to thank all the bands for their input, support and help in making 2009 such an awesome year for the Richter Collective. It feels good to be part of the music community in Ireland and I feel lucky that we have been helped and advised by labels and people who are doing it a lot longer than us like Out A Limb and Smalltown America Records.
Now that my Doctor Phil rant is finished I feel its important to especially thank Bodytonic (Twisted Pepper Staff), Road Records, Plug’d Records, TJ Lipple, U:Mack, Leagues O’ Toole, Tower Records and every magazine and journalist for mentioning us or our bands and for making 2009 such a great year for us.
Very Very Busy week for Richter Collective this week. Marvins Revolt are on tour around Ireland (You really have to check these guys out live) starting this Tuesday at our Big X-Mas Bash. Here are some Richter related gigs this week:
